One Joel "Woolf", a decorated British Army field artillery officer and more importantly a three time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, set aside his empty champagne glass at the bar of The Breitling Replica Watches Carlton Hotel in Cannes at 6pm on March 13, 1930. He had to calculate the time between the fuel stops at Aix-en-Provence and Lyon, Auxerre, Paris, so that he could get to Boulogne at exactly 10:30am. Barnato, in his Bentley, soared off the boat and made a mad dash to Dale Bourne’s Club in St James, arriving exactly at 3:30pm.

Birkin and Barnato's Speed Six 6 1/2 litre engine won the race from start to finish, and they were the only ones who won the race by more than 70 miles.
